Beşiktaş football director Önder Özen has moved to quash speculation linking Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi with an exit from the Turkish club, insisting that no official transfer offer has been received.
Özen rejects claims of an imminent Ndidi departure
Addressing the rumours, Özen said reports suggesting the midfielder is close to leaving are wide of the mark, adding that Beşiktaş has not received any formal proposal for the player.
He also underlined that, while there is attention from abroad, the club is still waiting for the kind of written bid that would trigger proper evaluation.
What Özen says about Saudi interest and offers
Özen acknowledged that clubs from Saudi Arabia have expressed interest in Ndidi, but maintained that nothing has been submitted in an official, written form.
- He stated that Saudi clubs have shown interest in the Nigerian midfielder.
- He added that Beşiktaş has not yet received a formal written bid.
Milliyet report on a proposed €10.5m bid
Turkish outlet Milliyet recently claimed that Al-Ittihad had tabled an initial offer of €10.5 million for Ndidi. The report suggested the overall value could climb to €12.5 million if performance-related bonuses are met.
Responding directly to that claim, Özen said: “There is interest from Saudi Arabia in Ndidi. However, no official written offer has arrived. If one comes, we will evaluate it.”
Ndidi’s impact in Beşiktaş’s 2023-24 season
Ndidi’s recent form has also been part of the backdrop to the transfer talk. He enjoyed a productive campaign with Beşiktaş last season, featuring regularly across competitions.
- He made 31 appearances in all competitions.
- He scored two goals.
- Both goals came in 25 matches in the Trendyol Super League.
- He collected five yellow cards during those league outings.
