Brighton & Hove Albion sporting director Mike Cave has welcomed the club’s late capture of Nigeria winger Femi Azeez from Millwall after a deal-sheet extension helped the transfer beat the deadline.
Brighton confirmed that the 25-year-old has agreed a four-year contract, with the fee remaining undisclosed. The clubs submitted the required paperwork before the 11pm closing time, giving them until 1am to complete the move, which was finalised within that additional period.
Quick facts

Cave said Brighton were pleased to bring Azeez into their squad following an outstanding campaign at Millwall. He highlighted the winger’s contribution to the club’s play-off finish and described him as one of the Championship’s most thrilling attacking players.
The sporting director added that Brighton were happy to have completed the agreement at last and were now eager to begin working with their new arrival.
Azeez played 77 times for Millwall, registering 15 goals and 13 assists. His displays earned him places in both the PFA Championship Team of the Season and the EFL Championship Team of the Season for 2025/26.
His rise to the Premier League has included spells outside the top tiers. The winger developed in Watford’s academy before featuring in non-league football with Northwood, Wealdstone and Hanwell Town, then joining Reading in 2019 and moving to Millwall in 2024.
At international level, Azeez has become part of Nigeria’s senior squad. He scored twice on his debut in a 2-0 victory against Zimbabwe in June, before creating a goal four days later in the Super Eagles’ 3-0 win over Jamaica.
