
C2E Sports Academy secured a place in history on Sunday by defeating Obosa Queens FA 2-1 at Enyimba Stadium in Aba to win the first-ever NWFL Nationwide title.
Agnes Ohuche and Nina Ude scored before the interval to put C2E in a commanding position, while Saidat Idowu revived Obosa Queens’ hopes soon after half-time.
Ohuche broke the deadlock in the 11th minute, and Ude added a second in the 30th minute as C2E went into the break with a 2-0 advantage.
Obosa Queens reduced the gap just two minutes after the restart, with Idowu finding the net in the 47th minute to create a nervy finale.
Obosa Queens pressed for a leveler, but C2E’s defence resisted the pressure as the academy side held on for a 2-1 triumph and became the maiden winners of the NWFL Nationwide trophy.
The championship completed a standout season for C2E Sports Academy. Both teams in the final also earned promotion to the NWFL Championship.
Football officials, stakeholders and sports personalities attended the final at Enyimba Stadium, which brought the inaugural NWFL Nationwide campaign to an end.
