A 15-member delegation from the Confederation of African Football headquarters is due in Nigeria today to carry out a final inspection of the venues and infrastructure being prepared for the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards.
Abuja’s Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre will stage the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly on Saturday, 21 November. The 2026 CAF Awards, Africa’s leading football honours event, will follow at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos on Monday, 7 December.
During an earlier visit between 31 July and 4 August, CAF representatives met officials from the institutions and agencies involved in delivering both events in Lagos and Abuja. The parties agreed to maintain frequent contact in order to reach a common understanding and put arrangements in place for smooth, forward-looking and innovative occasions.
Dr Christian Emeruwa, CAF’s Head of Safety and Security, will head the 15-person mission, which is expected to arrive in Lagos today. The delegation will conduct additional assessments and hold detailed discussions with management at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Eko Hotel & Suites and Murtala Muhammed International Airport, as well as representatives of the Lagos State Government.
Once in Abuja, the CAF officials will inspect facilities and meet senior executives from the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Transcorp Hilton Hotel and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Courtesy calls are also planned with the Chairman and the Director General of the National Sports Commission.
A six-member Nigeria Football Federation delegation, led by Dr Ademola Olajire, will accompany the CAF team throughout the inspection visits in Lagos and Abuja.
