Chelsea have reached an agreement on a club-record £117 million move to bring England midfielder Morgan Rogers to Stamford Bridge from Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old is set to put pen to paper on a six-year contract, which includes the possibility of extending his stay by an extra season.
Rogers is scheduled to undergo a medical on Monday, following his return from international duty with England at the 2026 World Cup.
If completed, the transfer would establish a new benchmark fee for an English player, bettering the £116 million Manchester City arranged earlier this summer for another Three Lions midfielder, Elliot Anderson, from Nottingham Forest.
It also makes Rogers Chelsea’s most costly acquisition ever, edging past the £107 million the club paid for Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez in 2023.
The signing is another key step as new Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso works to refine his squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
