Chelsea Sign Veteran Striker Danny Welbeck on Two-Year Deal

Chelsea have brought in veteran forward Danny Welbeck from fellow Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion, agreeing a two-year contract with the 35-year-old, the club announced on Saturday.

Welbeck produced 14 goals across 40 appearances in all competitions for Brighton last season. He is set to link up with Xabi Alonso’s squad during Chelsea’s pre-season tour.

Welbeck said he was delighted to join a club of Chelsea’s stature during what he considers an especially promising period. He already knows several members of the squad and said his discussions with the manager had been excellent, helping him establish an immediate bond with the team.
