
Nigeria midfielder Chrisantus Uche has completed a successful knee operation in Lyon after being injured during Getafe’s pre-season campaign.

The 23-year-old Nigeria international picked up the problem earlier this month when Getafe faced French side AS Monaco in a friendly.
Uche underwent the procedure on Wednesday and now faces an extended period of rehabilitation. The injury is expected to keep him out for the whole 2026/27 campaign.
An image posted after the operation showed Uche raising a thumb while lying in his hospital bed, with a brace secured around his right knee.
He returned to Spain this summer after completing the previous season on loan with English Premier League club Crystal Palace.
