Samuel Chukwueze produced a standout display as AC Milan came from behind twice to beat Manchester United 4-2 in their final pre-season fixture in Wrocław, Poland, on Saturday.
The Nigerian winger scored once and set up two more goals, playing a central role in Milan’s comeback and making a strong impression ahead of the new campaign.
Match action
- Manchester United moved in front after just two minutes. Harry Maguire rose to meet Bruno Fernandes’ corner and headed the ball into the net.
- Milan gradually imposed themselves on the contest, and Chukwueze restored parity in the 37th minute after Gonçalo Ramos found him with a precise pass.
- Chukwueze remained one of the Rossoneri’s most dangerous attackers, combining his goal with two assists as Milan turned the match around.
- United regained the lead six minutes into the second half, with Patrick Dorgu making the score 2-1.
- Milan responded quickly. Alphadjo Cissé levelled the match in the 57th minute before Ramos completed the turnaround by scoring in the 68th.
- Ruben Loftus-Cheek struck again three minutes later to give the Italian side a 4-2 advantage and confirm the victory.
United had earlier been presented with a chance to re-establish control, but Lorenzo Torriani kept out a penalty from Fernandes.
The victory provides Milan with considerable encouragement before the competitive season begins, while United finish their pre-season campaign with a disappointing result. The meeting also carried an emotional dimension for Ruben Amorim, who came up against the club he had managed previously.
For Chukwueze, the display may prove significant as he attempts to secure a regular role under Amorim. His aggressive runs, inventiveness and direct contribution to three goals suggested he could become an important attacking outlet.
