Schools and clubs ready for competition
The inter-school swimming competition is being organised by Dynaspro Sports Promotion alongside Advanta Interactive Limited. It has received backing from the Nigeria Aquatic Federation, Nigeria Olympic Committee, Nigeria School Sport Federation, Lagos State Sports Commission and Lagos State Swimming Association.
The secondary-school field comprises Grange School, Lagos Preparatory Secondary School (LPSS), Temple School, Greensprings School, James Hope College, Meadow Hall, British International School, Atlantic Hall, Rugby School Nigeria, Lagoon School, Whitesands School, Corona Schools and host school CIS.
Five clubs will also seek prizes in a programme featuring over 30 events. They are Damswimm, AQUA Sports World Academy, Boken Aquatics, C-Tribe and Swimfinity, which is based in Abuja.
Strong participation and Olympic ambition
League coordinator Oluseyi Oyebode said the response to this season had been extremely positive, following the progress made during Season 7.
“The elementary-school division launched the season last month and was a major success, especially because of the strong numbers and the support shown by parents and guardians,” Oyebode said. “We want to sustain that level and put on another memorable event. We believe the secondary-school competition will be just as entertaining, while our hosts are ready to receive every team on Saturday.”
Oyebode said he was pleased that a number of swimmers developed through the league are now representing Nigeria at the ongoing Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal. He added that a central long-term target is to create a route through which Nigerian swimmers can reach qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
With title sponsor Rite Foods continuing its support, the upcoming edition is expected to deliver another competitive day of racing. Grange School will face particular scrutiny after setting the standard over the previous three seasons, with their challengers aiming to end that run of supremacy.
