Smart City FC have appointed former Super Eagles midfielder Eddy Lord Dombraye as Technical Adviser as the Lagos-based club targets promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Dombraye takes charge
- The club introduced Dombraye on Tuesday after agreeing a 12-month deal with the ex-Lobi Stars coach, including an option to extend the contract.
- His arrival underlines Smart City’s ambition before the 2026/27 Nigeria National League campaign, with a place in the NPFL identified as the organisation’s principal objective.
- Chief Operating Officer Betiku Seun Soji, Team Manager Adebiyi Adejare Ojo and Sporting Director Abiodun Obafemi attended the unveiling ceremony.
Experience and expectations
Dombraye offers a broad background from both sides of the game. As a player, he competed in Nigeria and abroad, including periods in Poland, the former Yugoslavia and Ukraine. He was part of Nigeria’s squad at the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship and later represented the senior national team.
Following his playing career, he entered management, earned UEFA coaching qualifications and went on to serve as Technical Adviser at Lobi Stars.
The task at Smart City is clearly defined: guide the team from the NNL into Nigeria’s highest division. With the club upgrading its administrative and football departments, Dombraye will be expected to turn that stated goal into performances and results.
