Edo Queens prepare for continental test
- The team, known as the Ada Bendel, made the journey from Lagos with 21 players and 12 officials. Their route took them through Lomé, Togo, before they continued to Burkina Faso, which is hosting the tournament.
- Edo Queens have been placed in Group A, where they will face Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies, ASFC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire and Niger’s AS Garde Nationale.
- The regional competition is scheduled for August 23 to September 5, 2026. The tournament winners will claim a place in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Coaching arrangement and squad
The Nigerian champions will begin their campaign without head coach Moses Aduku, who is away with Nigeria’s Under-20 women’s side, the Falconets, on international duty.
With Aduku unavailable, Kennedy Boboye, the manager of Bendel Insurance, will take charge of Edo Queens’ technical affairs during the qualifying tournament.
The players in contention include Mose Chioma, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, Atume Doosuur, Vera Doris, Precious Oscar, Deborah Odiagbe and Uroko Valentina.
Edo Queens will aim to come through Group A and continue their push for qualification for the continent’s leading women’s club competition.
