Everton have secured Brennan Johnson from Crystal Palace in an unusual player-exchange agreement that sends Dwight McNeil in the opposite direction to Selhurst Park.
The transfer was reportedly finalised on Monday, with Johnson putting pen to paper on a four-year deal with Everton.
The Wales international arrived at Palace from Tottenham in January for £35 million, but he was unable to deliver the impact the club had hoped for.
Johnson, 25, had previously impressed during his time at Nottingham Forest. His move to Everton now gives him an opportunity to rebuild his confidence and recapture the form that once made him one of England’s most coveted attacking talents.
McNeil, meanwhile, will join Palace after four seasons as an Everton player.
Both footballers have signed four-year contracts, with the rare swap allowing Everton and Palace to refresh their attacking options before the new Premier League campaign.
