Falconets Held to 1-1 Draw by South Korea in Final World Cup Warm-Up

Nigeria’s Falconets drew 1-1 with South Korea in their final warm-up match before the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals begin on Saturday.

Late equaliser denies Nigeria victory

Mary Mamudu continued her impressive scoring form by putting Nigeria’s U20 women’s team ahead on Tuesday afternoon. South Korea, however, restored parity from the penalty spot with 12 minutes remaining.

The result followed Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over hosts Poland in Brzeg on Friday, giving the 2010 and 2014 World Cup runners-up a positive final preparation before their tournament opener against a determined Spain side in Sosnowiec on Monday evening.

Falconets’ group-stage schedule

Nigeria will remain in Sosnowiec for their second fixture before travelling to Lódź for the final group match:

  • Spain — Monday evening in Sosnowiec
  • China — Thursday, 10 September, in Sosnowiec
  • New Caledonia — Sunday, 13 September, in Lódź
