Millwall winger Femi Azeez has earned a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Year after a standout 2025/26 campaign in England’s second tier.
Azeez rewarded for breakthrough season
The 25-year-old Nigeria international collected the prestigious recognition at last night’s Professional Footballers’ Association Awards ceremony, capping an impressive emergence at Championship level.
Azeez became one of the division’s most dangerous attacking players while leading Millwall’s forward line. Usually deployed on the right flank, he ended the season with 11 goals and eight assists.
- The winger played a central role in Millwall’s attacking output.
- He contributed 11 goals and eight assists during the 2025/26 campaign.
- His form helped the Lions secure third place in the EFL Championship.
Players’ recognition and promotion push
Millwall’s strong league finish earned the club a place in the promotion play-offs, with Azeez’s consistent production proving crucial to that achievement.
Selection for the PFA team carries particular weight because the side is chosen by fellow players across the league. The vote therefore represents significant recognition from Azeez’s professional peers as his rapid rise continues.
He was selected in an attacking unit featuring Swansea City striker Žan Vipotnik and Coventry City forward Haji Wright.
International breakthrough follows club success
Azeez’s performances for Millwall also led to his first senior opportunity with Nigeria earlier this year. Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle selected him for his international debut at the 2026 Unity Cup.
The winger made an immediate impression, winning over supporters by scoring twice in Nigeria’s match against Zimbabwe.
