FIFA has published the full set of nominees for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Hyundai Goal of the Tournament ahead of Sunday’s showpiece final between Argentina and Spain.
The final shortlist is made up of six goals chosen from the quarter-final and semi-final stages, with the tournament’s ultimate winner to be determined only after the match at the end of the competition.
FIFA also confirmed that Julián Álvarez’s extra-time strike in Argentina’s 3-1 quarter-final victory over Switzerland secured the top vote-getter for both the quarter-final and semi-final rounds. The forward’s goal attracted 37.2 per cent of fan votes to win that phase of the awards.
The contest has been structured in stages across the tournament, with supporters casting ballots after the group stage, the Round of 32, the Round of 16, and then again after the combined quarter-final and semi-final matches.
Now, the goals that won each stage—along with the remaining entries that were carried forward into the shortlist—will go head-to-head for the overall Goal of the Tournament prize.
