
Nigeria’s Flamingos have reached Casablanca ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, where they will complete their final build-up to the opening Group B fixture against Poland.
The Nigerian delegation arrived on Saturday at 10:16 a.m. local time, with the team accommodated at the Ibis Hotel, media officer Erenayo Dorcas Koki confirmed.
Head coach Akeem Busari has selected a 21-player squad for the competition, which will be held from October 17 until November 7. Nigeria begin their campaign against Poland on October 17 before meeting Puerto Rico three days later. Their final group-stage match comes against reigning champions DPR Korea on October 23.
Each of the Flamingos’ Group B fixtures will take place at the Women’s Football Complex. The matches against Poland and Puerto Rico are set for Pitch 4, while the encounter with DPR Korea will be played on Pitch 1.
Captain Harmony Chidi brings previous World Cup experience to the squad after appearing at the 2024 edition. She has also been recognised for her role in Nigeria’s qualification run and in the Flamingos’ success at the WAFU-B U-17 Girls’ Cup in September.
Nigeria’s strongest finish at the U-17 Women’s World Cup remains the third-place achievement recorded in 2022.
