
Former Heartland FC, Kano Pillars and Abia Warriors defender Chinedu Ozor has reportedly regained signs of life hours after he was declared dead following a pre-season fixture involving his new team, Katsina United.
Ozor collapses during Katsina friendly
The defender fell ill during Katsina United’s match against Niger Tornadoes at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina. After being pronounced dead, he was taken to a mortuary and remained there before reportedly becoming responsive.
- Ozor was later moved back to a hospital.
- He is reportedly receiving oxygen while medical staff work to revive and stabilise him.
Heartland sends message of hope
Heartland FC, one of Ozor’s former clubs, expressed hope for his recovery in a social media message, saying it believed in a “God of a second chance” and praying for his life to be restored and his recovery to be complete.

Katsina United, Niger Tornadoes and officials at the hospital have not released formal statements confirming Ozor’s current condition.
