Lawal Garba, chairman of the second Nigeria Golf Summit, is enthusiastic about the opportunities the event is expected to create when it is held at NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja on August 26 and 27.
Garba, who leads Trobell Nigeria Limited and is also a keen golfer, believes the summit can provide a platform for Nigerian players to advance their careers and reach a higher level.
He explained that the gathering is designed to bring participants together, while allowing them to identify opportunities for improvement in golf and in their various professional pursuits.
“Although we come from different fields, golf has united us for a reason. We must take full advantage of the coming summit by building relationships and gaining greater knowledge of the game,” he said.
Garba added that growing golf in Nigeria would be a central issue at the meeting, alongside several other important matters. He said he was particularly pleased that the summit was taking place at what he considered an appropriate moment.
The Nigeria Golf Federation’s second summit for golfers and other stakeholders will be held in Abuja from August 26 to 27.
His Royal Highness Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi will serve as the event’s Royal Father, with prominent figures and golf stakeholders from Nigeria and other countries expected to attend.
Nigeria Golf Federation president Otunba Segun Runsewe said preparations for the summit were already at an advanced stage.
Runsewe also said the second edition would build on and improve upon the standard set by the inaugural summit.
“There is a comprehensive agenda, with several key issues to address. We want Nigerians to understand the sport better and learn about our plans for its continued development,” he said.
Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a former governor of Osun State, and Senator Simon Bako Lalong will attend as Special Guests of Honour. The summit will be hosted by the Nigeria Golf Federation president, Otunba Runsewe.
