Nice have agreed a deal with Hamburg for Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi, putting the 27-year-old Nigerian on course for a move to Germany.
The Ligue 1 side have accepted Hamburg’s proposal, although the amount involved has not been revealed. The transfer still depends on Moffi reaching an agreement over personal terms with the German club.
Hamburg have followed the forward’s situation for several weeks and are now nearing an agreement to bring him to the club.
Nice are looking to cut their wage commitments while opening space in the squad and budget for another striker. Elye Wahi remains a leading target for the French side.
Nice had originally wanted to receive a fee nearer the €8 million purchase clause agreed with FC Porto, where Moffi spent six months on loan last season. The club has nevertheless decided to accept a smaller bid.
Moffi made a positive impression on new Nice head coach Olivier Pantaloni and his staff during pre-season after returning from Portugal. He has maintained regular training involvement since the start of the summer.
Although the striker’s Nice contract remains valid until 2027, he now looks set to continue his career in Germany, provided he completes negotiations over his personal terms with Hamburg.
