Hood FC Retain 5Stars Premier League Crown with 4-1 Final Win

Hood FC Abuja claimed the 2026 5Stars Premier League title by defeating Lagos side Sir J FC 4-1 in the final at Showtime Arena in Lekki, Lagos, on Saturday, September 5.

Hood FC retain national crown

  1. The victory extended Abuja’s hold over the competition, as no club from outside the capital has won the championship since the league began in 2019.
  2. Sir J FC matched the champions during a closely fought opening half, with the teams going into the interval level at 1-1.
  3. Hood FC then produced a stronger second-half display, scoring three consecutive times to secure the championship trophy and the ₦4 million winners’ prize.

The eighth staging of the tournament, held under the theme “The Reawakening 8,” received backing from corporate partners MTN Nigeria, PUMA Nigeria and Devon King’s. Ricky Weir, an international advocate for grassroots football development, also donated sporting equipment and interacted with players during the finals.

The competition offered more than silverware and financial rewards. It gave promising players an opportunity to be noticed by international scouts, football agents and club officials, with several impressive performers reportedly attracting interest for possible professional careers overseas.
