Ikoyi Ladies Open Targets Global Growth for 51st Edition

The Ikoyi Ladies Open will stage its landmark 51st edition at Ikoyi Club 1938 from 11 to 13 November 2026, as organisers set out an expanded international ambition for the women’s golf tournament.

Lady Captain Mrs Annie Enikhenena said the theme for this year’s competition, “Enjoy Golf, Go Global”, reflects the organisers’ intention to establish the event beyond Nigeria.

“This represents much more than a regular golf competition for us,” Enikhenena said. “It is a cherished tradition that unites women through golf, friendship and fair competition. To reach a 51st edition is an important achievement.”

Tournament schedule and international field

  1. The three-day event will combine high-level competition with networking, social activities and lasting experiences for participants.
  2. Interest from outside Nigeria has increased, with entries already received from Uganda, Ghana, Zambia, Benin Republic and Italy, in addition to golfers from around the country.
  3. Players will contest 36 holes across the opening two days.
  4. The leading competitors will progress to the final-day round, when the 2026 champion will be decided.

World ranking recognition

The 2026 Ikoyi Ladies Open has received official recognition as a World Amateur Golf Ranking event, giving leading amateur players the opportunity to collect ranking points.

The WAGR system is overseen by The R&A and the United States Golf Association, with its rankings carrying major importance for top amateur golfers around the world.

Organising Committee chairperson Dr Karin Ekpe pointed to the impact of the accreditation by recalling that a golfer representing Benin Club secured WAGR status following an impressive showing at last year’s Open.

Sponsors and gala finale

Representatives of the tournament’s key corporate partners attended the unveiling, including officials from United Airlines, Digifon, ADL Solutions, Zenith Bank and KBL.

Executive Golf Club Captain Afolabi Balogun, Vice Captain Obinna Okoli and Trustee Mrs Bola Ondri were also present, alongside former lady captains, matrons and patrons.

The 51st Ikoyi Ladies Open will conclude with a Gala Night called “A Night of Glamour and Elegance”, bringing together golfers, sponsors and distinguished guests to mark sporting achievement.
