Falconets urged to build on Poland success
Acting General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, has called on the Falconets to produce their best performance against Korea Republic and preserve the confidence gained from their previous warm-up match.
Nigeria defeated hosts Poland on Friday at the Municipal Stadium in Brzeg, with Mary Mamudu breaking the deadlock during first-half stoppage time. The result lifted the two-time World Cup runners-up before their last preparatory game against the Asian side at the Remes Sports Leisure and Spa Stadium.
Ikpeme praised the team for competing strongly against Poland and ultimately securing the victory, saying the result had made the NFF and Nigerians proud.
He said the success had strengthened the squad’s belief in winning and urged the players to overcome Korea Republic as well. In his view, another positive result would help the Falconets approach the World Cup group stage with greater confidence, energy and resilience.
Nigeria’s World Cup schedule
The Falconets have been drawn in Group F alongside Spain, China PR and New Caledonia. Their opening match is against Spain on Monday, 7 September, followed by a meeting with China on 10 September and the final group fixture against New Caledonia on 13 September.
