India remain firmly in front at the 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships, with two days of action still to come. They have collected 17 gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze medals across epee, sabre and foil, as well as the wheelchair disciplines introduced this year.
England occupy second place on two gold, two silver and nine bronze medals. Nigeria and Cyprus complete the leading four, with only the veteran events yet to be settled.
Nigeria’s biggest highlight came from 17-year-old Oghenegaren Osievwo-Thompson, who secured the host nation’s first international fencing gold in the men’s under-23 epee. Men’s senior sabre bronze medallist Oluwafolayemi Akinyosoye also added to Nigeria’s haul, while the wheelchair squad won two silver and eight bronze medals. Officials have described the overall performance as the country’s finest at the championships so far.
Cyprus produced a gold-medal winner despite entering just one competitor. Australia earned two silver and three bronze medals, South Africa claimed two silver and one bronze, while Northern Ireland and Wales each secured a bronze.
