American livestream personality Darren Watkins Jr., widely known as IShowSpeed, crossed paths with Seyi Tinubu—President Bola Tinubu’s son—at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final in New York on Sunday.
New clips from IShowSpeed’s broadcast captured Seyi Tinubu in a Spain shirt, seated in the VIP area alongside his children and other family members.
On the pitch, Spain went on to defeat Argentina 1-0 after extra time to secure the World Cup trophy.
How the meeting unfolded
- During the livestream, a member of Seyi Tinubu’s team approached IShowSpeed to let him know the president’s son was in attendance.
- The 21-year-old then made his way over to the family section.
- He posed for pictures with the children and greeted Seyi Tinubu in person.
- After a handshake, Seyi Tinubu said: “It is nice meeting you.”
- IShowSpeed responded with a laugh, telling him, “Tell your dad to get me a passport!” before returning to his stream.
IShowSpeed’s appearance also follows earlier World Cup week involvement, with the streamer taking part in the tournament’s closing ceremony and performing his latest track, “World Cup (Champions),” accompanied by drummers and dancers.
The encounter arrives months after IShowSpeed’s “Speed Does Africa” tour brought him to Nigeria. In Lagos, he streamed stops including Lagos Island, Freedom Park and Nike Art Gallery, met Davido and Zlatan Ibile, and celebrated his 21st birthday during his time in the country.
