John Stones has completed a free transfer to Inter Milan after a decade with Manchester City, with the Italian champions confirming the England defender’s arrival.
Stones joins Inter
- The 32-year-old departed City after his contract ran out at the end of last month, while he was on international duty with England at the World Cup, where the team finished third.
- Stones has agreed a two-year contract with Inter.
- He featured in five matches for England during the tournament, staged across the United States, Mexico and Canada. His 94th cap came in the semi-final defeat by Argentina.
Manchester City record
Stones was an important figure throughout Manchester City’s successful period under former manager Pep Guardiola. During his time at the club, he collected six Premier League medals, three FA Cups, three League Cups and a Champions League title.
However, injuries restricted his involvement during his last seasons at the Etihad Stadium. He played only nine Premier League games in the previous campaign.
Inter debut
The defender may make his first appearance for Inter on August 22, when the club begin their Scudetto defence against Monza at San Siro.
