Kigali, Rwanda, has been selected to host the third FIBA AfroCan, with the tournament scheduled for July 2-11, 2027.
Tournament plans
- The competition will be played at BK Arena, one of Africa’s premier indoor sports venues, marking the first time Rwanda has staged the event.
- The final tournament is expected to feature 12 national teams, with qualifying fixtures taking place between September 2026 and June 2027.
- Morocco will arrive in Kigali as the reigning champions after lifting the 2023 title in Luanda, Angola.
- Rwanda will aim to improve on its showing at the previous edition, where the hosts secured the bronze medal.
Launched in 2019, the AfroCan is designed mainly for African basketball players competing in domestic leagues across the continent. The event offers home-based talent an important stage in international competition.
