Lagos will begin its 2026 Detty December programme with a new women-only one-day games event, Last Woman Standing Naija, where 1,000 entrants will compete for a ₦1 million top prize.
Event details
- Kandaval Communications has scheduled the inaugural Last Woman Standing Naija for Saturday, December 5, at JJT Park in Alausa, Ikeja.
- The organisers say the daytime festival is exclusively for women and will emphasise sisterhood, childhood memories and light-hearted rivalry rather than demanding fitness activities.
- Participants will contest traditional outdoor games such as sack races, skipping-rope contests, hula-hoop challenges and the Deephold challenge, an event intended to test concentration and stamina.
- The final champion will collect ₦1 million and be crowned the first Last Woman Standing.
- More than 140 contestants will also receive consolation rewards with a combined value exceeding ₦1 million.
- Thousands of spectators are anticipated, with audience members able to win complimentary flight tickets as well as other prizes.
- Entry is free, although participation is restricted to the first 1,000 women who register. Sign-up details can be found through the official event social-media accounts’ bio sections.
Organisers’ plans
Tony Obot, the managing director of Kandaval Communications, said the festival was created to address an overlooked part of Lagos’s December entertainment schedule.
“Lagos in December is recognised around the world for nightlife, raves and music shows, but we saw an obvious need for an event centred on women enjoying healthy festive daytime entertainment,” Obot said. “We deliberately avoided strenuous fitness formats and chose childhood-inspired games that bring out genuine happiness, laughter and a natural desire to compete.”
Obot added that the prize system had been structured to ensure the experience benefits far more people than the eventual winner.
“We did not want to create a competition in which only the woman who finishes first leaves happy,” he said.
“With more than 140 consolation rewards and free flight tickets available for people in the crowd, Kandaval Communications wants supporting friends at the event to be rewarding in itself.”
Brands, food and lifestyle businesses, and media organisations seeking to take part have been invited to reach the organisers through the event’s official communication channels.
