The 11th Lagos Women Run is now one month away, with the women-only 10km road race set for Saturday, November 14, 2026. Widely regarded as Sub-Saharan Africa’s biggest women’s road-running event, the competition is expected to bring together thousands of athletes from across Nigeria and other countries.
Countdown under way
- The official one-month build-up began on October 14 after coordinator Tayo Popoola met with major operational agencies at a high-level planning session.
- Popoola said organisers are determined to raise standards again for this year’s edition. “We have put in a lot of work and, as always, we want this edition to surpass the previous one. We remain dedicated to improving continuously,” he said.
- Entries for the flagship race opened in August and have continued to arrive in large numbers from participants in every region.
All runners who complete the 10km course will receive an official medal, a commemorative race shirt and a branded sports bag containing assorted gift items.
Tafawa Balewa Square, the historic venue on Lagos Island, will host both the starting line and the finish of the race. The event also retains the backing of the Lagos State Sports Commission, led by its Director General, Lekan Fatodu.
