Ademola Lookman heads into Atletico Madrid’s friendly with Manchester United at Stockholm’s Strawberry Arena on the back of a two-goal performance in Wednesday’s 4-1 training victory against Getafe in Majadahonda.
Arnau Ortiz and Obed Vargas, from the penalty spot, also found the net for Diego Simeone’s team, who now face a more demanding test in Sweden. Atletico are still missing several members of their World Cup contingent, while United have strengthened and reshaped their squad with the additions of Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans, Brazilian prospect Andrey Santos and Welsh goalkeeper Karl Darlow. Ruben Amorim’s side defeated Rosenborg 5-0 on 24 July, having begun their pre-season campaign with a defeat by Wrexham.
Lookman and Atletico will then travel to the Seoul World Cup Stadium to take on Manchester City on Sunday, 9 August, in the Coupang Play Series. Their final warm-up match will come against Olympique de Marseille at the Vélodrome on 14 August.
