Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City have collected maximum points from the opening three fixtures of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.
City’s winning start
- City opened the season by recovering from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1.
- They then produced a more convincing display against Crystal Palace, securing a 4-1 success.
- Their latest match brought a tighter contest on Saturday, when newly promoted Coventry City were edged out 1-0. Erling Haaland settled the game with a header before half-time.
- Those results have left Maresca with nine points from his first three league matches as manager, an outstanding beginning to his second spell at the Etihad.
Maresca’s new challenge
The Italian took over in June as the successor to Pep Guardiola, having previously served on Guardiola’s coaching staff at City.
As he enters his first complete season in the role, Maresca’s next task is to preserve the unbeaten run. The pressure is substantial after Guardiola’s highly successful, trophy-filled period in charge.
