MFM Women Basketball Secure 2026 League Spot with Unbeaten Lagos Run

The eight-team lineup for the 2026 NBBF/Zenith Bank Women’s Premier League is beginning to emerge, with two-time champions MFM Women Basketball securing their place in Lagos. They have won every game in the Second Phase and remain the only Atlantic Conference side to maintain a perfect record across the First Phase.

MFM claimed victory in all seven of their Lagos fixtures before adding wins in each of their four Second Phase matches in Port Harcourt. Those results put them at the summit, ahead of Victoria Queen and First Bank, with all three teams guaranteed Final 8 places from the Atlantic Conference.

In the Savannah Conference, Nigeria Customs completed both phases unbeaten, with the conference concluding yesterday at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Customs ended the Second Phase by overcoming ASO SKY Queens 60-42 to finish first in the standings. ASO SKY Queens took second and will also travel to Lagos for the Final 8.

Air Warriors and Titans secured the remaining two qualification places from the Savannah Conference.

Titans beat Plateau Rocks 54-31 yesterday, while Air Warriors defeated Nasarawa Amazons 76-45, leaving Amazons without a win across the two phases.

Defending champions Dolphins, meanwhile, will not be able to retain their crown after their poor showing throughout the two phases of the 2026 league campaign resulted in elimination.
