MFM Women Complete Perfect Atlantic Conference Phase 1 Run in Zenith League

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Women’s Basketball team completed Phase 1 of the Atlantic Conference without defeat, underlining their ambition to win the NBBF/Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League championship.

The two-time champions sealed their perfect run on Saturday by defeating record holders First Bank 62-37 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos. The result left MFM at the summit with seven victories from seven games.

Victoria Queens also continued their strong campaign, taking second place at 6-1 after a 65-49 success against First Deep Water. First Bank ended the phase in third on 5-2. Bayelsa Blue Whales, who placed fourth with a 4-3 record, overwhelmed IGP Queens 69-32, while Royal Aces improved to 3-4 by beating defending champions Dolphins 49-39. That defeat left the title holders sixth on 2-5.

First Deep Water occupied seventh position with one win, while IGP Queens remained without a victory at the foot of the standings as the teams look ahead to Phase 2 in Port Harcourt this September.

In the Savannah Conference, the first phase is due to finish today in Jos, with Nigeria Customs at the top of the table followed by Aso Queens and Air Warriors.
