Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown believes Calvin Bassey would represent a major addition for the Premier League club.
Bassey has been connected with a possible switch to Manchester United, with the Fulham defender’s current deal set to expire next summer.
Brown feels the 25-year-old could be open to joining the Old Trafford side should United turn their interest into a formal bid.
He said Bassey’s emergence as a United target is understandable because the defender possesses attributes the club are seeking in new recruits.
United are looking for a left-sided defensive option in an area Brown considers a weakness, and he believes Bassey would improve the squad compared with the players already available.
Fulham are unlikely to be keen on selling the defender, but Brown believes Bassey could be persuaded to move if Manchester United submitted a strong proposal.
