Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles have been drawn against West African neighbours Ghana in the second qualifying round for the 2026 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.
The opening match of the two-leg contest is scheduled for October 9-11, with the decisive return taking place from October 16-18, following the draw conducted by CAF yesterday.
Nigeria and Ghana are among 16 nations remaining in this phase of the qualification campaign. The aggregate winners will earn a place at the finals in Senegal.
The other ties will see Côte d’Ivoire meet Mauritania, Tanzania take on Mozambique, Seychelles play Malawi and Burundi face Uganda. Egypt and Morocco, meanwhile, will enter the competition against the winners of the outstanding first-round matches.
The meeting with Ghana gives Nigeria a fresh chance to reach the continental showpiece after a bitter exit in the qualifying campaign for the 2024 tournament. The Super Sand Eagles won the first leg 5-4 in Nouakchott, but Mauritania answered with a 6-5 victory in Kaduna.
With the scores level at 10-10 on aggregate, Mauritania advanced, leaving Nigeria determined to prevent another disappointment when the two sides face Ghana.
Senegal will stage the 2026 Beach Soccer AFCON in November. The tournament will also determine Africa’s representatives for the 2027 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
