The Nigeria Golf Federation will stage the second edition of its stakeholders’ summit in Abuja on 26 and 27 August, with administrators, business leaders and golf supporters expected from Nigeria and abroad.
High-profile attendance planned
His Royal Highness Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi has been named the event’s Royal Father, while organisers report that a number of prominent dignitaries have already confirmed their participation.
Federation President Otunba Segun Runsewe described the summit as one of the biggest events on the organisation’s calendar so far.
“It will be a very large gathering. We are looking forward to welcoming industry leaders, golf administrators, stakeholders and enthusiasts for this landmark occasion,” Runsewe said. He added that the programme would focus on meaningful conversations about golf’s development, investment opportunities and its long-term direction in Nigeria.
- Lawal Garba, Chairman of Trobel Nigeria Limited, will preside over the summit.
- Former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Senator Simon Bako Lalong will attend as special guests of honour.
- Runsewe will serve as host.
Venue and ambitions for Nigerian golf
The two-day meeting will take place at NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja.
Runsewe said the federation intended to use the summit to deepen partnerships and improve the position of golf within Nigeria’s sporting landscape.
He called the gathering a chance for participants to build connections and influence the game’s future. Runsewe said the forum for stakeholders and golfers would promote higher standards, stronger collaboration and a more promising outlook for Nigerian golf. He also said the federation was fully prepared and believed the event could transform the sport’s profile in the country.
Corporate backing
Several business partnerships are currently being concluded, while the federation is continuing to pursue further sponsorship support in an effort to increase the summit’s overall reach and scale.
