
Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF) president Otunba Segun Runsewe has welcomed the arrival of international guests and golf figures in Abuja for the second Nigeria Golf Summit at NICON Luxury Hotel.
Runsewe said on Tuesday that preparations for the three-day gathering had been completed. The summit is scheduled to run from Wednesday to Friday.
“I am delighted by the number of distinguished guests who have confirmed that they will come to Abuja,” Runsewe said. “The summit will meet international standards. We have put considerable effort into the arrangements, and I can confidently state that we are prepared to receive delegates from around the world.”
Summit schedule and attendance
- World Handicap System representative A. Solomon of Ghana was among the first delegates to reach the Federal Capital Territory, ahead of the larger group expected on Wednesday.
- About 250 golfers and industry representatives from Africa and Europe are expected to take part. The participants will include the captain and handicap secretary of each of the 50 registered golf clubs in Nigeria.
- Delegates will arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the principal conference taking place on Thursday before participants leave on Friday.
Lawal Garba, chairman of Trobell Nigeria Limited, will lead the summit as chairman. His Royal Highness Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi has been named Royal Father of the Day, while former Osun State governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Senator Simon Bako Lalong will attend as Special Guests of Honour.
