Robert Terlumun Akpenpuun, an Assistant Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service serving as Immigration Attaché at Nigeria’s embassy in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, will receive a traditional chieftaincy honour alongside his wife, Mercy Dooshima Akpenpuun, in Imo State.
The ceremony has been approved by the Obi Oha Royal Council of the Ihitteaforukwu Ancient Kingdom in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area. Akpenpuun also has experience in Nigerian football administration, having worked as a Nigeria Premier Football League match commissioner and as a protocol officer for the Nigeria Football Federation. In February 2026, he attended and completed the CAF–WAFU Zone B General Coordinators Training Course in Porto-Novo, Republic of Benin. His participation came after WAFU Zone B president Ibrahim Musa Gusau nominated him as one of five representatives in the NFF delegation.
Akpenpuun and his wife are to be invested as “Ezi Enyi of Ihitteaforukwu Ancient Kingdom,” a title that translates as “Good Friend of the Kingdom.” A letter issued on 29 July 2026 stated that the honour had received the approval and instruction of the traditional ruler, Eze Dr O. D. Nwandu, Akaraka III. Clan Chief Iginetus Okafor, who chairs the Chieftaincy Conferment Committee, said the recognition reflected Akpenpuun’s service, uprightness and dedication to peace and cordial relations. The couple will also join the kingdom’s College of Chiefs through a formal induction.
The event will take place on Wednesday, 30 December 2026, at the Obi Oha Royal Palace in Umuezeariam, Ihitteaforukwu. It will form part of activities marking the first anniversary of Eze Nwandu’s coronation, with members of the diplomatic corps, community figures and other well-wishers expected at the gathering.
