Nigeria National League Sets October 31 Date for 2026/27 Season Start

The Nigeria National League has unveiled a provisional schedule for the 2026/27 campaign, with the season set to begin on October 31, 2026.

NNL Chief Operating Officer Danlami Alanana sent the proposed programme to the secretaries of the relevant State Football Associations on September 2 as preparations gathered pace for the new season.

Ground assessments are planned from September 7 to 19, followed by the club-registration period, which will run from September 14 through October 23.

Clubs will obtain player licences between October 24 and 30, ahead of the first match on October 31. The rest of the opening-round fixtures will be played on November 7.

The opening stanza for Groups C and D is due to finish on December 19. A festive recess for Christmas and New Year will then run from December 21 until January 7.

Groups A and B are scheduled to complete their first stanza on January 16. Their mid-season interval is set for January 16 to 29, while a mid-season retreat will be held from January 21 to 23.

The second stanza is scheduled to commence on January 30, 2027.

The regular campaign for Groups C and D is projected to conclude on March 13, with Groups A and B finishing on April 3. The season-ending Super Four competition is planned for April 14 to 18, 2027.

Heartland FC and Crown FC are set to play the opening match at Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on October 31.
