Nigeria Omitted from CAF’s WAFCON Best XI Despite Championship Triumph

The Super Falcons’ disappointing showing at the latest WAFCON was highlighted again after CAF left every Nigeria player out of the tournament’s Best XI.

Nigeria had lifted the 2024 WAFCON trophy, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade receiving the MVP award and Esther Okoronkwo being recognised as Player of the Final. Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and defender Osinachi Ohale were also included in that competition’s standout XI.

However, the Best XI for the 2026 WAFCON was dominated by the new champions Cameroon, alongside Malawi and Algeria.
