Nigeria’s senior women’s handball side will launch its bid at the first IHF Women’s Nations Trophy for Africa Zone III against Ghana in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, today.
Head coach Michael Taangahar’s players are scheduled to meet their West African opponents in the opening group fixture at 6pm GMT. They will then face the host nation on Friday, September 4, with that second match also set for a 6pm GMT start.
Ouagadougou is hosting the Zone III tournament from September 2 to 6, and Nigeria will be aiming to make a positive impression in the competition’s inaugural edition. The Ghana clash represents an immediate examination of Taangahar’s team before its focus shifts to Burkina Faso in the next group-stage encounter.
