The Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) has announced that its 21-player squad for the 2026 World Youth Scrabble Championship will fly to Nairobi on 5 August, with the tournament scheduled to run from 7 to 9 August at the Trademark Hotel.
Departure plan and preparation schedule
NSF President Engineer Bright Idahosa said the early travel date is designed to ensure the team has enough time to settle ahead of the start of competition. He added that the federation is aiming to create the right conditions for the players to focus once the event begins.
National Youth Coach Hassan Olujoko outlined the build-up as well, confirming that the players will complete a minimum one-week training camp in Nigeria prior to leaving for Nairobi. Olujoko also confirmed that a seven-member backroom team will travel with the squad to provide technical and administrative support throughout the event.
