Nigerian judo stakeholders have given Dr. Musa Oshodi, president of the Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF), a unanimous vote of confidence, praising his forward-looking leadership and the nation’s landmark bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
In letters issued separately on August 26, 2026, the Nigeria Judo Coaches Association, the Referees Association and the athletes’ representative declared their firm support for Oshodi’s administration. The coaches’ body, in a statement endorsed by its president, Coach Oluwatoyin Emmanuel Ojo, said the sport had strengthened its profile both within Nigeria and internationally during Oshodi’s tenure. Ojo also hailed Enku Ekuta’s bronze-medal performance, calling it clear evidence of the executive’s investment in the development of judo.
The Referees Association, chaired by Godspower Geoffrey, described the Glasgow result as a breakthrough that brought an end to Nigeria’s 24-year wait for a judo medal at the Commonwealth Games. Geoffrey said the achievement was a product of Oshodi’s strategic changes and athlete-focused approach, while confirming that referees would continue to support the federation’s plans and future programmes.
Franca Audu, representing judokas across the country, conveyed the athletes’ complete allegiance to the NJF leadership. She said the recent Commonwealth success provided a strong platform from which the federation could expand judo’s reach and raise its standard throughout Nigeria.
After the three endorsements, the stakeholders pledged to work alongside the NJF board in making judo one of the country’s leading sports. They also called on government and private-sector partners to sustain focused funding for grassroots and other development initiatives, with the aim of producing reliable results from local competitions through to the international stage.
