Nigeria’s YellowGreens Storm Into U19 World Cup Qualifier Final Unbeaten

Nigeria’s Junior Female YellowGreens reached the final of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier with a commanding nine-wicket win over Rwanda U19 at the TCA Cricket Arena. The result was their fourth straight victory, extending their unbeaten run in the competition.

Rwanda opted to bat but found no answers to Nigeria’s disciplined bowling and were dismissed for 65 in 19.1 overs. Nigeria captain and Player of the Match Christabel Chukwuonye led the attack with outstanding figures of 4 for 6 from 3.1 overs. Peace Usen claimed 2 for 7 and Jennifer Godwin also took 2 for 7, while Thania Uwase Niyorukundo’s 20 from 28 deliveries was the only score of note among the Rwandan batters.

Nigeria lost Beauty Oguai for two early in the chase, but recovered without further trouble. Omosigho Eguakun made 35 from 29 balls and Shola Adekunle added 26 from 26 as the pair shared an unbeaten stand that carried Nigeria to 66 in only 10.4 overs, with almost half the innings still unused.

Having already overcome Uganda, Malawi and Rwanda, Nigeria will meet the winner of the Zimbabwe-Uganda semi-final in the title decider. Another victory would give them a perfect tournament record and a place at the global event.

Rwanda U19 Women: 65 all out in 19.1 overs

Nigeria U19 Women: 66/1 in 10.4 overs
