Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie is shifting her focus to Brighton & Hove Albion’s new Women’s Super League campaign after a challenging spell with Nigeria.
Brighton return comes ahead of Arsenal opener
Nnadozie has resumed work with her club and featured in Brighton’s pre-season programme as the team prepares for its first 2026/27 WSL match against Arsenal on Sunday.
The 25-year-old said she had played a short spell in a pre-season friendly and was now anticipating an important weekend.
Club football gives Nnadozie the chance to put Nigeria’s recent setbacks behind her, including the Super Falcons’ disappointing WAFCON campaign and their failure to secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Strong first WSL season provides confidence
Despite the difficulties with the national side, the goalkeeper can draw encouragement from an outstanding debut season in English football.
- Nnadozie posted a 74.7 per cent save percentage during the 2025/26 WSL season, the best figure among goalkeepers with at least 10 league appearances.
- Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton ranked next on 74.6 per cent, while Manchester United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce recorded 73.6 per cent.
- Across 19 league games, Nnadozie faced 83 efforts on target and stopped 62 of them.
FA Cup run adds to goalkeeper’s impact
Nnadozie also played an important role in Brighton’s progress to the Women’s FA Cup final, although the Seagulls were beaten by Manchester City in the showpiece match.
