
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will convene its Annual General Meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State, on August 7 as preparations gather pace for the 2026/27 campaign.
AGM to review league operations
The gathering will include club chairmen and owners, Nigeria Football Federation officials, members of the NPFL board and other key stakeholders. They will assess the season just completed and settle arrangements for the upcoming league year.

Fixture draw to follow meeting
Once the AGM concludes, the league organisers will stage the official draw for the 2026/27 NPFL fixtures.
Higher rewards and player salaries
The National Sports Commission has provided a significant financial boost to Nigerian football by announcing a record ₦1 billion reward for the winners of the 2026/27 NPFL title.
It has also sanctioned a minimum monthly wage of ₦2 million for NPFL players, with the aim of raising welfare standards and promoting greater professionalism throughout the competition.
The new season is set to continue the recent reform programme designed to make Nigeria’s top division more competitive and strengthen its commercial appeal.
