Chibuike Nwaiwu registered his first Trabzonspor goal of the campaign as the club swept aside Samsunspor 3-0 in Saturday’s Turkish Super Lig Black Sea derby at Samsun 19 Mayıs Stadyumu.
Trabzonspor settle derby before half-time
- Trabzonspor took control during an emphatic opening half, putting three unanswered goals past their local opponents to make the second period a formality.
- Ernest Muçi broke the deadlock in the 28th minute, converting from inside the box.
- Nwaiwu made it 2-0 10 minutes later. Samsunspor goalkeeper Okan Kocuk could not secure an attempt from Muçi, and the Nigerian centre-back reacted to score.
- Franculino Djú completed the first-half scoring in the 40th minute, sealing a convincing derby win for Trabzonspor.
Nwaiwu clears suspension concern
In addition to getting on the scoresheet, Nwaiwu came through the match without receiving the yellow card that would have ruled him out of Trabzonspor’s next league game.
The Super Eagles international had collected three bookings across successive matches against Basaksehir, Amed SK and Genclerbirligi.
Another caution against Samsunspor would have resulted in a suspension for next Monday’s encounter with Besiktas at Papara Park, but he remains available for that fixture.
