Victor Osimhen maintained his outstanding run in front of goal for Galatasaray, scoring in Friday’s Turkish Süper Lig Matchday 10 meeting with Konyaspor.
Osimhen strikes early for Galatasaray
The Nigeria international put the home side ahead after 12 minutes, climbing above the defence to meet Gabriel Sara’s delivery with a header.
- Osimhen has now registered nine league goals this term.
- He has also contributed three assists in the Süper Lig campaign.
- The forward remains a central figure in Galatasaray’s attacking setup.
His goal arrived one day after he and his partner, Stephanie Kim Ladewig, celebrated the birth of their second child. Their newborn daughter has been named Liora Audrey.
Four-goal victory takes shape
Galatasaray increased their advantage in the 28th minute when Yunus Akgün fired a superb long-range effort from outside the box into the net.
The third arrived four minutes after the restart. Sara supplied another assist, with Aleksey Batrakov driving into the area before placing his finish beyond the goalkeeper at the right-hand side.
It was the Russian player’s first league goal.
VAR intervention leads to Leao milestone
In the 52nd minute, Leao fell in the penalty area, but the initial decision was to award a corner rather than a spot-kick. VAR official Alan Kijas recommended that referee Cihan Aydın take another look at the incident.
- Aydın reviewed the challenge on the monitor.
- The referee then overturned the original decision and pointed to the penalty spot.
- Rafael Leao converted in the 55th minute for his first Galatasaray goal.
League lead retained ahead of Stuttgart test
The win was Galatasaray’s eighth in the league, taking them to 25 points and preserving their position at the summit.
Galatasaray will now shift focus to their UEFA Champions League fixture against VfB Stuttgart.
