Manchester City have tied down homegrown star Phil Foden with a fresh contract, extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium until 2030, the Premier League club confirmed on Wednesday.
New deal keeps Foden at City through 2030
The agreement further underlines City’s long-term plans for the academy graduate, who has grown into one of the club’s defining attackers since earning a breakthrough into the senior setup in 2017 under Pep Guardiola.
In total, Foden has now made 411 appearances for City and has contributed 131 goals since that first-team debut, during an era that has produced a remarkable haul of silverware.
Honours and impact since 2017
Foden’s rise has mirrored City’s trophy-laden period, with the winger playing a key role as the club collected major honours across domestic and European competitions.
- Six Premier League titles
- One Champions League
- Three FA Cups
Foden’s message and the push for more
Foden said the timing of the extension reflects his awareness of being part of a historic phase, while insisting City’s focus remains on what comes next.
“It’s not lost on me that I’ve been lucky enough to be part of a historic period with so many titles won, but we’re always looking to the future and trying to win more,” the forward said in a club statement.
He also thanked everyone connected to the club for their backing and support.
“I can only thank the club, staff, teammates and fans who continue to put their faith in me and trust that I give everything I can for City and I hope I’ll be able to repay you for years to come.”
Form swings, England selection and City’s next fixture
Despite his overall influence, Foden’s selection situation has fluctuated. Last season, he produced 10 goals and seven assists in 50 appearances across all competitions, but the 26-year-old was left out of England’s World Cup squad.
England manager Thomas Tuchel made the decision after a dip in form in 2026, a stretch in which Foden did not score and managed just three assists.
With the new campaign approaching, City are set to open their Premier League season under incoming manager Enzo Maresca on August 23, when they host Bournemouth.
