Plateau United assistant general manager Isandu Danjuma is confident the club can recover from their frustrating home stalemate with Warri Wolves when they visit Nasarawa United in Lafia this weekend.
The Peace Boys failed to win on home soil against Warri Wolves, but Danjuma said the dropped points would not distract the team from its target of earning continental qualification at the end of the campaign.
Quick facts
- Plateau United drew at home against Warri Wolves.
- Their next fixture is an away North Central derby against Nasarawa United in Lafia.
- The club remains focused on claiming a continental place.
- Isandu Danjuma also leads the Legends of Plateau United initiative.
Danjuma characterised the Warri Wolves match as a demanding affair, noting that the visitors arrived highly motivated after defeat in their preceding outing.
“It was a difficult match. We had prepared, but Warri Wolves had prepared as well,” Danjuma said. “After losing their previous game, they came like wounded lions and wanted all three points.”
He said Plateau United must not lose concentration after surrendering points at home, while stressing that the players had put in a committed display.
“We will continue our push and make sure we secure a continental ticket by the end of the season,” he said. “We are hurting now, so we have to work even harder.”
Attention now turns to the North Central derby in Lafia, where Danjuma believes Plateau United can produce a valuable result away from home against Nasarawa United.
“We have usually been capable of picking up points on the road, and we will work hard again to take important away points in Lafia against Nasarawa United,” he said. “It is a North Central derby and we hope to represent ourselves well.”
Alongside his role in the club’s management, Danjuma is chairman of Legends of Plateau United, a body created to support former players and help younger footballers prepare for life once their playing days are over.
