
Nigeria defender Zaidu Sanusi lifted his fourth Portuguese Super Cup as FC Porto began the season with a 1-0 victory over Torreense at Estádio Cidade de Coimbra.
Victor Froholdt settled the contest in the 38th minute, rising to convert Pepê’s delivery. The result gave Porto their 25th Portuguese Super Cup, extending their record in the competition.

Sanusi remained on the pitch from start to finish and produced a calm performance at the back as Porto opened the campaign with a trophy.
The victory brings the left-back’s total with Porto to 10 honours since his 2020 move from Santa Clara. His collection consists of two Primeira Liga championships, four Portuguese Super Cups, two Taça de Portugal wins and two Taça da Liga titles.
At 29, Sanusi is one of Nigeria’s most decorated players. Only Nwankwo Kanu and John Obi Mikel have won more major club trophies among Nigerian footballers.
His next task is the 2026/27 Primeira Liga campaign, with Porto aiming to defend their league crown while also making a strong impression in European competition.
